Class Notes 1974-1979

Class of 1974:


Gregory Piacente, MD `74, is a board certified neurologist practicing at White-Wilson Medical Center in north Florida. He is certified by both the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). He specializes in epilepsy, migraine headaches, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's and stroke. He also performs EMG, NCV and EEG tests in addition to the adjustments of Vagas Nerve and Deep Brain Stimulators. The practice has offices in Fort Walton Beach, Destin and Niceville.


Class of 1977:


Peter Holland, MD `77, is the Psychiatry Clerkship Director at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla. He is a principal investigator of pharmaceutical trials and has completed more than 60 trials. He directed his own clinical and research practice in Boca Raton for 25 years and for the past 10 years has been completing research at Florida Atlantic University.


Class of 1979:

Stephen R.T. Evans, MD `79, was elected vice chair of the American Board of Surgery (ABS) for 2014-2015. Dr. Evans will serve as chair in 2015-2016. Dr. Evans, executive vice president for Medical Affairs and chief medical officer for MedStar Health, oversees medical education, research, clinical quality, and risk management initiatives, as well as the academic partnership with Georgetown University School of Medicine and MedStar Health's other academic affiliations. He is a professor of surgery at Georgetown University. After receiving his medical degree from USF, he completed residencies in both General Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and a fellowship at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. As a specialist in General Surgery, Dr. Evans is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and previously held board certifications in American Board of Surgical Critical Care, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Critical Care.​​​​​​
